Studio KO (Karl Fournier & Olivier Marty)
Studio KO was founded in 2000 by Karl Fournier and Olivier Marty. Based between Paris and Marrakech, they practice an architecture of material honesty and contextual sensitivity that has earned them international recognition.
Morocco Connection
Their masterwork is the Musée Yves Saint Laurent Marrakech (2017), a building clad in terracotta bricks arranged in a lace-like pattern that evokes the weave of fabric — a reference to YSL's couture. Architecture critics have called it one of the most significant new buildings in Africa. The museum uses passive cooling techniques inspired by traditional Moroccan architecture. Studio KO also designed numerous private villas in the Marrakech Palmeraie and Atlas foothills, developing a vocabulary that fuses Moroccan materiality with contemporary minimalism.
