Marrakech-Menara Airport Terminal

مطار مراكش المنارة

Islamic geometry at departure-gate scale

The terminal expansion at Marrakech-Menara Airport, completed in stages from 2008, translates Islamic geometric patterns into contemporary architecture. The roof structure uses a diamond lattice pattern inspired by traditional Moroccan motifs, while the interior features soaring arched spaces that recall the proportions of Almohad architecture. Natural light filters through geometric screens, creating shifting patterns on the floors. It handles over 6 million passengers annually and serves as many visitors' first experience of Moroccan architectural identity.
